INDORE: The connection of IPL spot-fixing in which Indian pace man S Sreesanth and two of his Rajasthan Royals
teammates were arrested by the police has Madhya Pradesh links as well.
The top bookies that were arrested by the Delhi police had their
connections in Indore. Last year, in spot-fixing two MP players T
Sudhindra and Mohnish Mishra were punished.
The Delhi's top bookie Tinku, Amit Kumar and other 11 bookies had tie-up with bookie of Ahmedabad JK. It has been that nearly 20 bookies operating in the city are working on lines of JK and Tinku.
This information has been revealed to the Special Task Force (STF) by the some of the arrested bookies. The STF, on Tuesday, in Annapurna area arrested Monu Yadav and Mayank Panchal. Both the accused revealed connection with bookie Dinesh Somani. Somani works with a Mhow-based close friend and notorious bookie Dinesh Phool who works on the direction Ahmedabad based bookie JK and Delhi-based bookie Tinku.
According to the sources, it is believed that nearly Rs 500 crore betting is done daily from Indore alone. Madhya Pradesh is already infamous in spot fixing case as two cricketers from the state - T Sudhindra and Mohnish Mishra - were punished for their involvement in spot match fixing during IPL 5 last year in the month of May only.
Representing Madhya Pradesh, medium pacer Sudhindra was the highest wicket-taker in Ranji trophy season 2011-12 (40 wickets). He, however, earned the dubious distinction of becoming the third cricketer in the country to be banned for life by the Board of Control for Cricket in India for match-fixing. He joined the ranks of former Team India captain Mohd. Azharuddin and former ODI cricketer Ajay Sharma to get a life ban from the BCCI.
The 28-year-old Sudhindra, representing Deccan Chargers was caught in a sting operation by a TV channel during IPL 5 along with four other cricketers - Shalabh Srivastava, Mohnish Mishra, Abhinav Bali and Amit Yadav - who were punished with lesser bans.
